Guillermo del Toro presents this eerie horror about a pair of feral children - and the malevolent presence who watches over them. Lucas (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has long been searching for his young nieces Victoria (Megan Charpentier) and Lily (Isabelle Nélisse) - who disappeared without a trace several years ago. Then he receives some unexpected and shocking news. Both have been found alive - but bear little resemblance to the girls who vanished from their suburban home. Victoria and Lily were discovered in the woods and are more feral than childlike. Nevertheless, Lucas and his girlfriend Annabel (Jessica Chastain) decide to raise the children themselves - a decision they soon come to regret! Both kids have a peculiar habit of talking to the walls, but even more distressing is their tendency to address an invisible presence as 'mama.' Soon, the couple are plunged into a waking nightmare as they begin to discover who 'mama' is - and what dreadful purpose she seeks.
