Borodin's monumental Russian epic is performed at The Met for the first time in nearly 100 years. Prince Igor (Ildar Abdrazakov) leads his troops into battle in a military campaign against the barbaric Polovtsians. However, Igor loses the battle and is taken prisoner by his enemies. Eventually, he is able to escape their clutches and return to his homeland - which he finds in ruins. Igor then vows to become a better man, and begins a new chapter in his life. Dmitri Tcherniakov marshals an extraordinary number of performers to help bring this colossal masterpiece to life, with the famed Gianandrea Noseda conducting. Grammy Award-winning bass-baritone singer Ildar Abdrazakov gives a towering performance in the central role, playing a figure whose own personal struggles are played out against the founding of the Russian nation. It's the first time Prince Igor has been performed at The Met in nearly a century - making this an unmissable experience for opera fans.
