A crime writer's family are threatened by a terrifying supernatural entity in this intense horror movie. Ellison (Ethan Hawke) is a true crime writer who's desperately in need of a subject for his next book. So he moves his long-suffering wife Tracy (Juliet Rylance) and the couple's two young children into a new house in smalltown Pennsylvania. This was the scene of a mysterious disappearance and an unsolved gruesome family murder. Ellison has a reputation for spotting clues that were missed by the police. Sure enough, while nosing around in the attic he finds a box of disturbing old Super 8 home movies. After consulting occult expert Professor Jonas (Vincent D'Onofrio), he becomes convinced that an ancient Pagan deity is behind the killings. What's more, his own children are next in line! From the writer/director of 'The Exorcism of Emily Rose', 'Sinister' puts a shocking and clever new spin on the 'found footage' genre.
